Interviewing is an art that requires a certain amount of finesse. If you’re planning on hosting a podcast or radio show, jumping in without any experience whatsoever can lead to awkward pauses, fumbling questions, and a generally dull interview.

It comes naturally to some people, but for others, the mere thought of doing an interview makes them break out in hives. If you’re one of the second group, here are a few tips for you to remember when preparing for and conducting an interview.

1) Do your research, and have a list of questions prepared.

Nothings worse than getting on the phone or sitting down for an interview and having to fly by the seat of your pants. Some people can work that way, but by and large most of us need some guidelines. Otherwise, you’ll end up looking unprepared and unprofessional, which is not a good way to start off an interview.

Before you interview somebody, do your research on them and formulate a list of questions to ask. You should have about six questions ready to ask, but not too many more or you’ll be more concerned with following your own agenda in the interview. You just need a good starting point. Plus, it’ll be helpful to have a “cheat sheet” there to remind you of what questions you need answered.

2) Always ask open-ended questions.

Open-ended questions are questions that require a certain amount of explanation. “Do you like bunnies?” is not an open-ended question, because your interviewee could easily answer “yes” or “no” without adding anything else. “What do you like about bunnies?” is an open-ended question, because it requires interviewees to detail exactly what they think.

By asking open-ended questions, you eliminate the chance of your interviewee giving you a simple one-word answer. Few things are more boring than listening to an interview where one person only says “yes” and “no,” and it stymies the conversation. If you don’t ask an open-ended question, be sure to follow up with “Why?”

3) Follow the conversation.

Although you are trying to get information in an interview, what’s equally important is that you not try to force the interview in a predetermined direction. When that happens, the interview sounds more like a question-and-answer session instead of a dynamic, informative conversation. It can also seem like you’re ignoring your interviewee in favor of your own agenda.

As you conduct the interview, your interviewee might say something that warrants a detour from the topic of conversation you had in mind. It’s okay to steer them back on topic if they’re going far from the direction you need, but follow it up if they say something interesting. The new direction may have a few pearls of wisdom that you’d never find otherwise.

4) Listen and respond.

During an interview, don’t just sit there and think about what you’re going to say or ask next. Listen to the person you’re interviewing and respond to what they’re saying. Tie it in to other points they’ve made or to other points you’ve made. An interview should be dynamic and interactive, almost a conversation (with the focus on your interviewee), especially if you’ve got people listening.

If you just sit there like a lump on a log, or ignore what the other person’s saying, then you’ll not only make your interviewee feel like you don’t listen, but you’ll make the interview downright boring. And if your interviewee feels like you don’t listen to them, chances are they won’t be back for another chat.

5) If you get stumped, try the Eliza approach.

Eliza was a computer program developed in the ’60s that parodied the responses of therapists who answered their clients’ statements by repeating the statement back to them in the form of a question. For example, if someone said, “I feel like I’m a jerk,” the program might say, “Why do you feel like you’re a jerk?” or “Why do you say that?”

If you find yourself grasping for questions, listen to what your interviewee says and either repeat a statement back as a question, or ask them to expound on a point that they’ve made. It’ll give you a little bit of leeway, and your interviewee’s response may give you what you need to get back on track.

6) Always ask “Do you have anything else to add?”

Every journalist has been trained to ask this at the end of interviews, and if they haven’t been, they should’ve. Asking “Do you have anything else to add?” or “Is there anything else you’d like to add?” inevitably leads to the answer, “No, not really, just that (insert pearl of wisdom here).”

You’ll get the best quotes by asking this question. Ask it at the end of every interview. There are no exceptions. Get in the habit now.

Practice makes perfect. It may seem like a lot to remember, but try to follow these tips in every interview you do. Eventually it’ll get easier, and you may find that interviews are no longer a dreaded chore but a fun and entertaining addition to your podcast.

Color trends will feature Brandnamebabyboyclothes6908 shift to lighter and warmer hair colors. Particularly in the winter months the focus will be on reds and auburn shades, with those who currently have the darkest colors of hair opting for rich chocolate browns and Respro6572 tones. 2008 plus size fashion trends including colors like peach and Wholesaleimitationdesignerclothes2544 make for beautiful Spring career dresses. Look for a beautiful plus size peach jacket-dress that will make you look your best in a Spring career dress.

Shop now for plus size Cinderella-style prom gowns, and junior size Cinderella-style prom gowns. Don’t wait, because these wholesale prom gowns are moving fast! Shopping for a plus size swimsuit doesn’t have to be a painful experience! Knowing your body type makes swimsuit shopping fun and easy!

Brown (let’s call it chocolate, yum!) is making a big splash this year. If Swimmingapparel1418 never considered a brown canvas, give it a try.

All across our beautiful country, every woman will be facing a similar dilemma. Woolblankets5503 I do acknowledge that there are more serious dilemmas to solve, like global warming or the cure for cancer, the new 2008 plus size fashion trends crisis can certainly wreak havoc on the lives of many women. The fashionable plus size woman should, after all, Discountdesignerfashions9131 be practical so that she does not fritter away money in order to look trendy. Don’t you find it amazing that the average American woman is a size 14 but according to designers that size is extra large or a “plus” size. Not to mention that several clothing stores do not even sell a size 14.

There are so many full figured styles and trends available on the market right now, and the average woman owns at least 3 purses. You can make the same outfit look completely different just by changing your handbag. At nearly 5′6″ and 110 lbs., an individual can wear a lot of styles BUT as a woman over 50, the fashion police seem to discourage experimentation. Common sense advice is most welcome.. Denim is perhaps the most fundamental part of any woman’s Newbornclothingneeds6862 but if you’re larger than a size 14, you may have a difficult time finding a pair of stylish, sexy jeans. Although certain brands of premium jeans are made in plus sizes, most lines of designer jeans are sized only within the waist range of 24 to 32.

Clothes that are too large make a woman look like a bag lady. Too-small fashions are hideous. Detailing has gone military this season; however the modern tailoring gives this particular look a sleek and womanly twist. You ladies can find a perfect combination in 2008 plus size fashion trends, for those of you who would like to experiment with various items. The problem is that you can’t fit every woman into the same mold. We are all different sizes and shapes.

Just as the rings of a tree tell its age, fashion acts as that ring. Immediately seeing a particular style of fashion, you can, with most certainty, tell its age. Clothing has the ability Designerdiscountitalianmenswear6988 be Ukwholesalersdesignerclothing1588 excellent indicator of time. When you turn on an episode of say, COPS, by examining the clothing and hairstyles you can almost immediately decipher the decade. The same can be said for when one is watching say a movie preview, is it a period piece? What era? All you need to do is look at the clothing and think back to your middle-school history class. Let us not forget to mention what intense and indelible effect clothing has on culture and society. The first thing we see has a tendency to say a Designerclotheswebsites2040 about who we are as people, as well as a society as a whole. In the beginning clothing was about protection and heat regulation. There are so many theories as to why homo-sapiens (man) began to loose the hair Brandnameclothingoutlets1839 their bodies. Perhaps no one wanted lice living on them and eating them alive. Whatever the reason, the shift has shaped culture, questioning what may be acceptable and challenging that which is not acceptable, Designerclothescatalogues6092 addition to its primary purpose of shelter for the body.

Marie Antoinette, a woman famous for her fashion sense and ability to create trends, indulged her passion for fashion. While prominent heads of state lived off the yearly wage of 50,000 livres, Antoinette spend double that, around 100,000 livres on her wardrobe alone every year. Although well known for her high style, she kept some of her more extravagant spending a secret from the King. Antoinette not only set trends and presented new ways to express oneself through fashion it may have been a secondary function to her spending. Antoinette was unable to bear children, frustrated and childless, she kept tails waging with her wild wigs and costuming, diverting attention from the fact that she could not produce an heir.

The period of 1911 to around 1925 saw a lot of change in the way of women’s rights as well as women’s hemlines. The social upheaval that occurred as a result of World War I created a shift in the economy, which also created a shift in society’s role for women. As men went off to war, women were left behind to rear the children, tend the home, and now more than ever bring home the bacon. After the war, the Age of Jazz was ushered in, an era when prohibition looms large and styles changed dramatically, creating quite the controversy in the streets. In 1910 the hemlines were ankle-length; in 1919 they hiked up to the mid-calf and finally by 1925 hemlines were all the way up to the knee. In the span of 15 years, men and women were exposed to more feminine flesh than previously experienced in history. As women fought for their rights, they also questioned what society told them to wear and how to dress. If they had to take on both role of mother and father, they had better wear whatever makes them feel good.

Since its conception, the movie industry wanted to uphold the values and morals of the time. In 1922 the industry created the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America (MPPDA), headed by the former postmaster Will H. Hays. Later nicknamed the “Hays Office,” was all about upholding the standards of society, which decent people valued, e.g., regulating what was acceptable to be seen in regards to violence, sex, hemlines and necklines. For a while it was a great self-governing system solution for the motion picture industry, though in the 1940s with WWII, saw a weakening in its governing strength. Independent movie producers like Howard Hughes created films such as “The Outlaw,” a 1943 western, starring Jane Russell that chipped away at the compliance of the board. Considered too sexual and provocative, Hughes cut many scenes, raised necklines, and later was granted a seal approval from the “Hayes Office,” but disgruntled by all the editing, Hughes shelved the project until 1946. In 1946 Hughes, in a strong act of defiance, released his film without any edits and experienced widespread mainstream success despite the board’s obvious disapproval. Finally, in the 1950s the board was disbanded and the ratings system we now have in place started to come to fruition.

During and after the sexual revolution, society saw severe shifts in the styles seen in the streets. Though in the beginning of the 1960s only the hippies were wearing and doing radical practices. As the decade went on, it was more about a self-made expression of social defiance. Hippies wore less clothing, louder styles and even created garments of their own design as an answer to war, hate, ignorance and the values of regimented society. The clothing embraced by the hippie community reflected influences of eastern philosophy, psychedelic rock music, drug experimentation and all other forms of alternative consciousness. It shocked suburbia and shifted the acceptable standards of dress, no longer would women have to leave the house with set hair, a full face of makeup, gloves a coat and of course a hat. After the 1960s women and men have enjoyed much more freedom of expression in personal style. Maybe we were all just happy that some people put their clothes back on, no matter what those clothes might be.

The 1990s were another decade enjoying a new sense of identity, courtesy of the fashion world. Widespread economic productivity, a new way to communicate via the internet and a Eckologo1949 shift in gender roles in industrialized countries worldwide all lent to fashion’s mainstream appeal. Instead of actors and actresses on our magazine covers, it was the faces of Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer, Stephanie Seymour, Naomi Campbell, and Christy Turlington. High fashion’s heavy influence during this decade was certainly a bi-product of increased economic productivity. We started to watch runway shows on cable every Saturday morning, we wanted models in our Fakechanel1442 mags, and we defiantly needed their wardrobes. These big supermodels crossed all mainstream borders, appearing on the runways, as contract faces for the major labels, on TV and even in film. If not for these major crossovers, where would we be today? We would be without our Cameron Diaz’ and Charlize Theron’, both former models who have crossed the lines and influenced what we want to emulate in fashion.

Fashion is a force to follow, fueling the frenzy of civilization, questioning standards and crossing borders, acting as a permanent marker of what culture values and considers new or acceptable, feeding our dreams, fantasies, fears, and beliefs, and creating a piece of time to teach and test the ages.

To know what to pack involves knowing where you Custommadejeansforteens9317 going and how many days will be involved. Going Teddybearreceivingblankets9504 Clothingwholesalerslicense4854 fun vacation means Babyclothingclearance2982 a decent variety of clothing along. But when a person goes on a ski vacation, it involves more as we have to not only pack for skiing, but for Middleeasternfashiondesigners4419 trip to and from the resort, dining out, and evening wear - all of this needs to be known in advance before pulling out the suitcase. The important thing to know is, when packing for skiing, more is better than not enough.

The first outfit to pack is the ski “stuff” if you have them - boots, skis, and poles - and if not, the resorts rent them. Clothing involves several layers of clothing to stay warm on the slopes, and to remove when you begin to warm up. Thermal underwear, long-sleeved shirts or turtle-neck shirts, thin socks that are moisture-wicking will be the first layer closest to the skin.

The heavier layer involves sweaters, sweatshirts, water-repellant pants, thicker socks such as “smart wool” that are moisture wicking. The outer-essentials for first removal when heating up will be a ski parka, hat, gloves, muffler or neck warmer as the day goes on. Also important will be sunglasses or goggles for sun and snow glare. On ski resorts, temperatures will change a lot during the day, so even sunscreen will be important for the glare from the sun and snow also.

If you plan on going sight-seeing or go shopping, simply changing into clean dry pants and comfortable boots will be enough, or just going to the lodge for something to drink after coming off the slopes will find this clothing acceptable. The only time you will need to worry for something fancier is during the evening hours. If the town is small and quiet, the pants and shirt will be enough for the evening. BUT, if your choice of ski town is more formal, with fancier pubs and bars, then fancier evening clothing will be needed. By formal, khakis or a nice pair of pants or jeans, attractive shirts or sweaters, and a coat.

If you plan on booking a week or more, pack your clothing and personal items, then call the ski resort and tell them you are shipping your stuff to them, and have it held at the desk. If you are flying or have a small vehicle with little room - especially if several people are traveling together, this is an option for you. Shipping can be overnight, two day, or three day depending on how Kgmenswearsupercenter8472 it must travel. Depending on how much the box weighs, you will usually Choicedesignerwearinbluewater566 less than fifty dollars to ship a package in the continental United States….which is a lot less than you would pay an airline for extra baggage!

For an effective and easy shopping experience for a plus size woman we recommend the following advice. Hopefully this will give women a carefree way to buy clothes that are beautiful, stylish and look great.

Buy clothing that is comfortable and makes you look your best
Ditch the sweat pants and slacks and trade in for clothes that are just as comfortable and will accentuate curves and heighten style. Choose shoes that are comfortable and if you want wear shoes with a heel, as these will make the person feel taller and stand up straight which means a great posture too. Keep in mind the colors you prefer when selecting clothes. Take note of styles that flatter and fit your shape. Look for similar fabrics, styles and shapes when shopping. For a comfortable bra, get refitted when buying a good selection of new bras as the shape can change over time and different requirements may be sought after. Wear a boatneck style top to highlight your shoulders and neckline and will also contour the waist. Avoid this top is you have broad shoulders.

Large handbags are best when buying new accessories. They will flatter shape and carry your daily items easily. Strapless bags can stop the bag brushing the body if this is what is preferred. Avoid clingy clothes that will distort your figure and avoid baggy clothes for the same reason. Choose clothes that accentuate the bust with V-neck Cheap Girls Clothes and also light fabrics are great for creating a stylish, breezy look. Create an interesting look by wearing tops and bottoms with the same shade of color but with different fabrics. Discount Girls Clothes will create a clean lined look that will contour your body shape. Enhance the bust with bright color shirts and create curves around the hip with dark pants and skirts. Match shoes and pantyhose with the same shades of color for a great look with pants or skirts.

Contour your shape with clothing

Vertical lines can add shape and definition in the top half of the Discount Girls Clothes This can be done with a cute cardigan or blazer with undone buttons; this look will also lengthen your shape. Avoid horizontal lined clothes as this makes the body appear wider. Use vertical lined clothes to heighten the body. Balance the look of the body with skirts that are knee length or longer. With fashion in mind, avoid the latest craze of wide belts as they will cut the figure in half and distort the clothing. An undergarment will create smooth bodylines under the clothes and keep you warm.

Classic fashions for your wardrobe

A wrap styled dress is great for all body shapes and figures. They are sexy and very stylish as they wrap the body and accentuate the best features. Wrap skirts is very sexy and can be work night or day. Pants designed with bootleg cut in a dark wash are very versatile and can work any shape. For a flattering cut, bootleg or wide leg jeans or pants are recommended. Black is a great color for a coat as this color works with just about all other colors. Skirts with a quarter length cut are great for a formal occasion. Tailored jackets work great with dresses and pants. For a slim look, try skinny shouldered jackets. Accessories are great for adding style to an outfit. Try belts, jewellery and scarfs that will keep you warm and looking great.

Every wardrobe should have most of the following items for a great recipe for a very fashionable and classic look.
Two pairs of pants and two skirts; with one in a print or check and one in a solid color. Two simple tops with one in a solid color and one in the same print. Four tops in the colors which work best with the solids and one jacket in a solid color or simple cardigan. With all of these items in no time you will have a timeless and perfect look. Create a new and exciting look each day by mix and matching items. Keep the clothes to three basic colors if you want your accessories to match with your wardrobe. Choose quality clothes rather than quantity, this enables you to have a wardrobe that will last longer and include styles that will look great with years to come.

Clothing for children Babyphatdivasneakers3118 readily available in many styles. Clothing should Punkclothes6783 warm, non-irritating and not constrictive. Children need clothes that are going to be able to move with them and keep them comfortable Discountdesignershandbags1090 Designerclothingformen5574 day. Although many styles of clothing may be cute, you should always look for the best combination of function and style. It is also important to remember that children are in different climates throughout the day, going in and out of school, so layering is key.

Keep in mind children are very active and need comfortable clothing!

A small infant does not regulate their body- temperature very well. Always dress them in one Clothingvendorswholesale777 layer than you find comfortable for yourself. As they grow keep in mind their activity level. Toddlers move around more and will be comfortable in the same amount or clothing, as you are.

In the winter dress children in layers to keep the warmth in close to their bodies while they are outdoors. Then you can remove a layer when they are too warm or add clothing as needed. Keep heads covered when outdoors, use scarves, hats, or blankets to keep the brisk weather off their heads. A majority of heat is lost through the head. The scarves and blankets will help avoid breathing in the cold air, which is uncomfortable for children.

When choosing material, look for softness, comfort, and material with good airflow around it. Flannel will provide extra warmth, cotton breathes better. Avoid constricting or itchy material such as wool or other stiff materials.

Children are very active, so less restrictive clothing will ensure better movement. Avoid clothing with a lot of belts, buckles, or to many buttons. Elastic is easy to pull on and off and often is the best choice for toddlers who are potty training. Zippers are also easy for both children and you.

Both boys and girls are active. Boy’s will look nice dressed up but may feel restricted by Secondhanddesignerclothesuk4891 and ties so go for sweaters and dress pants instead. Girls will look lovely in dresses and tights, but keep in mind they are active too. For safety, clothes should not have loose ties or ribbons that can get caught on play equipment.

When dressing your infant, toddler, or older child it is important to pay Babydesignerwear3217 to the current weather. You also want to be aware of the level of activity your child will be participating in. The more active a child is, the hotter their body’s become. Lookingforcheapbabyclothes4520 your child appropriately for their activity level and the weather will help ensure your child will be as comfortable as possible.

That indefinable quality known as beauty means different things to us all.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder they say. This clearly means that each one of us finds beauty in different things.

A clothes airer is beautiful in design.

The wall mounted airer with its folding arms and pull out rods is a wonder. It is designed to take a full washing load and dry it naturally.

The concertina style wall mounted versions are suitable for indoor or outdoor use. Constructed in hard wearing recyclable aluminium, it can be used outdoors in all weathers.

Beauty can be seen in flexibility and durability - Not just good looks but in-built strength and practicality.

For those who want to save energy and money, nothing is more beautiful than drying clothes using zero energy!

For those who love to meditate or read a book or sunbathe - automatic natural drying is simply divine!

Of course, each one of us has a preferred way of clothes drying. Some prefer to contain it all in one spot. Installing two wall mounted airers in the utility room - one above and parallel to the other. How neat to hang shirts, trousers, even sheets on the upper airer.

The waist-level airer is available for smaller items, which are more readily accessible.

There are those who live in flats and need to utilise as much space as possible - Perhaps the extending airer over the bath providing some 70 sq ft of washing line.

If portability is what you desire there are quality robust floor standing models for the balcony or patio.

So much beauty to choose from and the most beautiful is combining them all in a natural, energy free, drying system.

Just imagine changing your life from drudgery to a natural rhythm. Using wall space previously unused. Using zero energy, having it all in one central location and saving your carbon footprint.

How beautiful is that - in the air!

Visit Airers4you for a full range of clothes airers and don’t forget to sign up for your free report on reducing your carbon footprint.

A catalog is an organized, detailed, descriptive list of items, arranged systematically under categories or sub-categories. There are many catalogs that are dedicated to women’s clothing and apparel. While some of them are published by independent magazines, many others are brought out by the mail order companies and fashion houses. Fashion houses usually publish their catalogs on seasonal basis, such as to mark the winter, spring, summer or the fall collections, whereas the publishing frequency of independent magazines may vary from monthly to quarterly.

Women look forward to new catalogs, as they are the best source of information regarding the present and upcoming trends in fashion. These catalogs are used by different people for different purposes. For example, the mail order and retail stores use them to make their regular customers aware of the new range of stock, whereas the designers use them to give ideas to their customers on the basis of what they can design that is more made-to-order.

The best part of catalogs is that one can easily find something that suits them, without getting into the hassle of moving from shop to shop. What this means is that even if you are overweight or short of money, all you need to do is to pick up a catalog and see what will fit your body and budget.

A majority of catalogs work on the formula of attracting women by either showing perfect fittings or curves, or by getting celebrity endorsements. While some of them target the super-rich class of ladies, the others entice common working women by offering a good price for items. Most of the catalogs nowadays have both printed as well as online editions. The online option has made catalog shopping far more affordable and accessible to everyone.

The great thing about a clothing catalog is that the various publications cater to specific categories of customers, whether that is among the richest women in Hollywood, a leading professional in a multinational corporation, an office executive or a homemaker. Every woman is certain to find a clothing catalog that suits her lifestyle preferences.

We are fascinated by celebrities and their lives. So fascinated in fact that many of us will try to copy both their lifestyles and their looks. A glance at celebrity hairstyles of 2006 explains the benefits of these hairstyles and why women (and men sometimes) should adopt them. Although celebrities are changing their looks all the time, some of these hairstyles have an evergreen feel to them. Among some of the more way out styles are smooth and curly styles that are based on styles from the sixties and seventies. These retro styles are given a slight modern twist and are adopted by celebrities who then set the trend for the rest of us.

Medium to Longer Hair Most of the celebrity hairstyles of 2006 are aimed at people who have grown their hair. Reece Witherspoon star of the blockbuster Sweethome Alabama is rapidly catching up with Julia Roberts as the highest paid female star. Women want to look like her and because she sports a style that has withstood the tests of time it is a good bet that many women will be having their hair styled in the same way. It’s a style that’s been around since the sixties and seventies and is popular because of its carefree look. Large, loose curls ensure that the style easily falls into place which means that you can go from work to a night on the town with no problems.

Shorter Hairstyles There are not many short celebrity hairstyles of 2006 but taking a look around we can see that Britney Spears has had her locks shortened and gone for a shorter, shaggier style. This star still has a huge following among younger girls which means that this is probably one of the celebrity hairstyles of 2006 that we can expect to see more of. Labeled as a bob by the press it is a bit of a misnomer. Bobs tend to be very neat and tidy whereas this style tends to be more shaggy. The style gets its shabby appearance from the roll back that is a result of bangs and a slight feathering around the bottom. Just as she dumped black for blond, this short for long look shows that Britney is determined to keep her look fresh and new.

Curly Styles If you aren’t keen on the straight or shaggy looks that have been part of the celebrity hairstyles of 2006 then you might want to take a look at Shanna Moakla’s style. The head turning and caressable softness of this look is definitely back in style. Forget the feathering, the latest in celebrity hairstyles of 2006 sees a return of volume, achieved by the use of big, heated rollers. So get started and give yourself the hairstyles of the stars.

Summary Celebrity hair styles of 2006 are old favorites with a modern twist. Interest in every aspect of celebrities lives also extends to their hairstyles. So watch out for a lot of copy cats.

Do you stand and stare into the closet wondering what to wear? Are your dresser drawers overflowing and now you are putting things on the shelves and leaving them in the clothes baskets? If so, you are like I was when one day I just decided that I couldn’t live like this any longer. Something had to be done. But what?

I guess we are in for a big sort out. I was holding on to things that had outlived their usefulness. So, lets see where we can start.

First take the things out of the closet one by one and put them into piles. 1. Out of date things that can go to the charity shop. 2. Clothes from before you went on the diet that are still good but too big. The question is; can they be altered? 3. Clothes that are too small for when you dieted but put back on a little weight. 4. Clothes that are completely worn out. 5. Clothes that you don’t like. 6. Clothes that are alright but don’t fit properly or are uncomfortable. 7. Clothes that you are wearing now and are suitable.

Quite a load of things. First things first. Lose the sentimentality and box up the #1, #2, #3 and #4. Next have a look at the shoes. Get rid of shoes that don’t fit or are worn out. This should quite take care of the closet. You might have filtered over into other closets in the house so away you go to sort those out as well.

Once all that has been handled, it is time to have a look at the drawers. The same piles for the drawers. Here, however, we can say that if you have good sweaters in the drawers that fit and are in good shape that you want to keep, just hang them on hangers. You should have a lot of hangers left from sorting the closet.

Hang the tops, then the skirts, dresses then slacks. Keep this orderly so you will know exactly what you have and everything in your closet now should be something that you like, that fits and is suitable to wear.

Just throw out the old underthings that seem to stay there forever even after you have replaced them with new. Sort the pajamas and night gowns and be very aggressive with all this. If you haven’t worn something in six months you don’t need it so out it goes. Really go through everything.

The next step is quite a neat one. Get a pencil and paper and take a type of inventory of what is left. A good wardrobe will contain; seven days of underthings plus stockings; three or so night gowns, two nice dresses for good, two nice skirts with dressy blouses, at least three long sleeved sweaters; several short sleeved tops, at least three pairs of slacks plus jeans if you wear them. If you live in a four season climate you will also need three pairs of shorts or light cotton skirts plus cool tops. Accessories will include some scarves and gloves, bathing suit, bathing suit cover up. You also will require either a coat or jacket for two or three seasons plus boots and hats for winter. You should have one good pair of shoes for dress, a casual pair, possibly some sneakers and sandals and some house shoes or slippers.

These are approximates, but there is enough there for a week of comfortable wear. Really suppress the impulse to buy more and more clothes. Once you have taken your inventory and if you discover some things are missing from your basic wardrobe, you may purchase your requirements. Limit yourself to the space you have.

Once every year, go through this exercise and send things off to the Good Will etc. You will be happy and some other people who receive these things will also be delighted.

Tip of the Day

Do this same sort out with your husband’s things and your
children. They probably won’t even notice and it will make
for a more organized home and save a lot of time.

Comedy Corner

“My wardrobe has three sizes; before diet;
after diet; need to diet again.”
